Plan Your 2011 Conference Calendar

One of the most educational and fun things you can do as a Learning Professional is to attend a national conference. Whether you are a Learning Leader trying to keep an eye on the new trends or you are an individual contributor in your Learning Department, there is a lot to gain at these conferences.

Some of the great things to do include:

  • Attend individual sessions on emerging learning trends.
  • Network with colleagues around the country.
  • Meet the “superstars” in our industry.
  • Hear great keynote speakers.
  • Learn about a huge variety of learning vendors in a very short period of time.

There are quite a few national conferences scheduled for 2011. I’m sure I didn’t find all of them but here are a few for you to check out. If you know of more, please add a comment with the additional conference date and url.

February 2 – 4, 2011

ASTD TechKnowledge Conference & Exposition

San Jose, CA

 The tagline is “Define, Design, Deliver”.  As a long-time Instructional Designer and a big fan of technology solutions, this one is very appealing to me. Here is an excerpt from their conference description:

Training 2011 Conference & Expo

San Diego, CA

The tagline for this conference is “Performance is Everything”. This conference has over 150 different sessions. I’ve always enjoyed this conference for the information sessions and the wide variety of vendors at the expo. An excerpt from their conference web site is below:

Adobe Learning Summit

Orlando, FL

The tagline for this conference is “Learn. Leverage. Leap.” This conference is piggy-backed with two other conferences giving you more for your travel dollars. If your team is using the Adobe Learning Suite, this is a great conference to attend. Here is an excerpt from their conference literature:

The E-Learning Foundations Intensive

Orlando, FL

This conference, while at the same location as the Adobe Learning Summit, requires separate registration. An excerpt from this conference website is below:

This is the last of three co-located events. Again, separate registration is necessary. The tagline for this event is “Find the Spectrum of Solutions.”  This conference is being offered jointly by the eLearning Guild and Learning Solutions Magazine. An excerpt from the conference is below:

June 15 – 17, 2011


San Diego, CA

The tagline for this event is “Context is king. Content is core. Learning is Everywhere…” This is a great opportunity to learn more about mobile learning while the field is still new. Here is some information from the conference website:
